Paiche Consulting and Training was founded in March of 2018. Named after the pirarucu, the largest freshwater fish in Brazil, Paiche is how this fish is known internationally. Making an international impact in seafood sustainability, its founders have been working together since 2014. They are among the pioneers in the sustainable seafood movement in Brazil and are founders of the Brazilian Alliance for Sustainable Seafood (BASS).
The company emerged from the need to develop sustainability recommendations for species consumed in regions with poor sustainability information. Paiche guides seafood buyers to develop sustainability commitments that promote a future of abundant offers and greater profit. These commitments build an understanding of the supply chain that minimizes the risks of purchasing products from dubious sources and influences the industry to make positive changes. In addition, Paiche helps companies to educate their consumers, employees, and suppliers, driving a change of attitude toward a healthier ocean for today and tomorrow.
